Robert M. Johnson (1945-2006) entered the insurance industry in 1976 as a personal producing agent with Pacific Mutual with an emphasis on employee benefits. He was one of Utah's top producers of small group health insurance until 1983 when he became President of The Insurance Exchange, a brokering general agency specializing in employee benefits. During this time he became one of Utah's first RHU's (Registered Health Underwriter), and a founding member and Charter President of the Utah Association of Health Underwriters (UAHU).
A recognized expert on small group health insurance, Robert has served on health advisory committees for the Utah State Department of Insurance, Governors, Members of Congress, and in advisory positions for many health insurance companies. Robert teaches seminars on various health insurance topics, and has been called as an expert witness in legal actions and inquiries by both private and government entities. He is currently serving on the Health Insurance Advisory Committee of the State of Utah Insurance Department.
Active in the UAHU, Robert was a charter recipient of the MHIS (Master Health Insurance Specialist) designation. At the 2001 State Convention of the Utah Association of Health Underwriters, Robert was the recipient of the first Life Time Achievement Award ever presented for service given toward industry improvement. At the 2007 Annual Convention for UAHU, there was a unanimous decision to name the Life Time Achievement after Robert
Marcus joined the Insurance Exchange in 1997 as Robert's assistant. Upon becoming licensed in 1998, Marcus joined and continues to be an active member of Utah Association of Health Underwriters and the National Association of Health Underwriters. Marcus's UAHU involvement has led him to serve in many positions: Chairman of the UAHU State Legislative Committee 2003; Membership Chair 2004; Vice President 2005; and President in 2006. In 2002 the UAHU presented Marcus with the "Rookie Leadership Award" as well as "Most Influential on the Hill Award" in 2003 for his work with State Legislators. He meets regularly with legislators on the state and federal level working towards health insurance improvement and stability.
Marcus has also served on various committees as an advocate for consumers. The Insurance Exchange continues to provide insurance solutions as the Managing Agency for the Utah Medical Association, the Utah State Bar, the Independent Auto Dealers Association and other associations. The Insurance Exchange agents and staff bring years of experience and expertise in their respective fields to ensure the best plan and service possible.
